Members of the Oakland Raiders are scheduled to spend one of their off days by visiting the residents of the Veterans Home of California, Yountville. The Raiders are scheduled to meet with the Home's residents on Monday, Aug. 20 in the Main Dining Room, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. “We welcome the Oakland Raiders once more to our beautiful Veterans Home,” said Robin Umberg, CalVet Undersecretary for Veterans Homes. “The time our veterans spend visiting with members of the Silver and Black is truly memorable for them, plus it gives them stories they can share with loved ones.” The Veterans Home of California, Yountville was founded in 1884 and is the largest veterans' home in the United States and currently is the home of approximately 1,100 aged or disabled veterans World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Desert Storm, and Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Home offers its residents numerous recreational, social and therapeutic activities, along with living accommodations for independent living.
